Fresh off his Sunday night best actor Oscar win for his part in The Father, Anthony Hopkins spoke warmly of fellow nominee Chadwick Boseman in an Instagram movie early Monday. Boseman, which died last summer, has been nominated for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
The 83-year-old spoke from their native Wales, and indicated surprise as he recognized the award.

“I am grateful to the particular Academy and thank a person. I want to spend tribute to Chadwick Boseman who had been taken from us much too early, and once again, thank you all extremely much,” he stated. “I really did not really expect this, so I actually feel very privileged plus honored.”
Hopkins’ last Oscar win happened within 1992, for playing Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs. Sunday’s win makes your pet the oldest best professional winner, but his trip to Wales meant he could hardly attend the event within LA, The Hollywood Reporter noted.
Olivia Colman played Hopkins’ daughter within The Father and got the best supporting actress candidate selection for her role. She was apparently meant in order to accept his award in the event that he won, according in order to The Guardian, but presenter Joaquin Phoenix did so on their behalf.
